Vol. 465 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

64 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Justice her views on the deployment of 18 senior gardaí to observe five people laying a wreath on the grave of a republican who died from natural causes some years ago considering the many demands being made on the Garda Síochána in other areas of crime and the escalating problem of drugs trafficking in particular. [9828/96]

The detailed deployment of Garda manpower is a matter for the Garda authorities. They inform me that it is not possible, on the basis of the information supplied, to identify the occasion referred in the question. Should the Deputy provide more detailed information, I will have further inquiries made in the matter.
