Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Peace Fund.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

269 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the funding, if any, that will be made available by his Department under the EU peace initiative fund. [10458/96]

A total of £16.7 million in European Social Fund aid is to be provided under the initiative. This aid will be largely channelled through my Department to the other Departments and agencies responsible for delivering the individual moneys in the programme such as Area Development Management Ltd. and the Combat Poverty Agency, in accordance with the implementing provisions set out in the programme.

Of the ESF element of £16.7 million, the spending of approximately £1.5 million will be implemented under my Departments responsibility on the measures for boosting growth/retraining the workforce and co-operation between public bodies.
