Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Coastal Zone Management.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

323 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Marine the plans, if any, he has in respect of coastal zone management: if so, the progress made to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10148/96]

In 1995 a major study on the development of coastal zone management in Ireland was commissioned by the Ministers for the Marine, for the Environment and for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. The study is being undertaken by a consultancy group headed by Brady, Shipman, Martin, Planning Consultants. A final report is expected shortly. This report will be presented to the commissioning Ministers and will be followed by a round of public consultation. It is hoped that all interested individuals and groups will fully participate in this consultation process.
