Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - EU Funding of Tourism Sub-Programme.

Seán Doherty

Question:

63 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the amount of the available EU funding under the tourism sub-programme that has been committed to date; the amount that has been drawn down; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10232/96]

The Operational Programme for Tourism aims to attract investment of £652 million for Irish tourism over the period 1994 to 1999, of which £369 million will be provided in the form of grants by the European Union. To the end of 1995, over £105 million in EU aid has been approved in respect of over 850 projects under the programme.

The amount of EU funds that has been drawn down to date is some £39.5 million.
