The CSO will continue to develop its revenue potential in a manner compatible with its responsibility, as a public service, to disseminate the statistics it produces to as wide a range of users as possible. However, the potential for generating additional income from CSO publications and information services is limited.
It should be noted that the Estimate of £22 million for the Central Statistics Office in 1996 includes an exceptional provision of £12.7 million approximately for the taking of the Census of Population. The 1995 Estimate was £13.7 million.
