Question:

80 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the total cost to his Department of consultancies carried out in 1995; if he will give a breakdown of this cost; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10299/96]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question 60 of 13 December 1995 in which I gave details of consultants engaged in the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Tánaiste. The following is an update on the position—

Vote for the Department of Foreign Affairs

The final costs incurred were £65,372.36 as set out in the aforementioned reply. This does not include the cost of consultants engaged on staff appraisal and staff training projects, the costs of which will be met from this year's budget.

Vote for International Co-operation

The following additional costs, over and above those set out in the aforementioned reply, were incurred. The total cost of consultancies in 1995 was £195,248.
