Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Relief for Disabled Drivers.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

95 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Finance the proposed changes, if any, he has regarding the adaptation of rules in respect of tax and excise relief to assist disabled drivers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10118/96]

I have no plans to extend the scope of the disabled drivers' and passengers scheme as it is presently constituted.

The Deputy might note, however, that the adaptation requirement for qualifying disabled passengers has been reduced from 20 to 10 per cent of the tax free value of the vehicle in the Finance Act, 1996.
