Question:

108 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of applications received in counties Cavan and Monaghan under the control of farmyard pollution scheme and the dairy hygiene scheme; and the number of approvals that have issued to date. [10701/96]

There have been 1,059 and 700 applications for the control of farm pollution scheme in respect of Counties Cavan and Monaghan. Of these 524 and 420 have been fully processed with approvals issued in respect of 495 and 387 respectively. All the remaining applicants have been written to, in line with procedures introduced last September, and responses are awaited.

Under the dairy hygiene scheme 467 and 521 applications have been received from County Cavan and County Monaghan respectively. Of these, 177 and 232 have been fully processed with approvals issued in respect of 149 and 217 respectively.
