Written Answers. - Milk Quotas.
The milk quota system is operated in accordance with EU and national legislation. The national regulations set down the implementing rules for the various schemes in place, including the temporary leasing scheme.
A review of the operation of the quota system in Ireland was recently carried out by my Department, in consultation with the Milk Quota Review Group. Following this, I published detailed rules for the operation of the 1996-97 temporary leasing scheme incorporating a number of the recommended amendments.
