Vol. 465 No. 8

Written Answers. - Land Transfers.

Seán Power

Question:

58 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in transferring land to Kildare County Council to enable the commencement of construction of houses in the Robertstown area. [10688/96]

Due to the complex nature of this transaction there was substantial work involved in the preparation of the relevant legal documents. Following correspondence between the respective solicitors, a draft contract and related documents were furnished by the Chief State Solicitor to the council's solicitor in February 1996. In reply, the council's solicitor requested that the commissioners should commence the procedure under Part XIII of the 1994 planning regulations in relation to the proposed new Garda station and that signing of contracts should be delayed until the commissioners had completed this procedure. This procedure was duly completed at the beginning of May 1996, and the Chief State Solicitor is at present preparing revised contract documents which will be issued to the council's solicitor this week.
