Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Refusal of School Admission.

Mary Wallace

Question:

155 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Education her views on the refusal of a school in County Meath to admit a child on the grounds that the child requires the use of a wheelchair. [10996/96]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 84 of 22 May last, I am not aware of any situation where a wheelchair-bound child has been refused admission to a school because of his/her disability.

Should my Department be supplied with details of the school in County Meath where a child has been refused admission, my officials will be pleased to pursue the matter with the relevant board of management as a matter of urgency.
