Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Parking of Heavy Goods Vehicles.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

167 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Justice if her attention has been drawn to the problems caused in residential areas in view of the delay by the Garda Commissioner in introducing temporary rules to ban the parking of heavy goods vehicles; the steps, if any, she will take to ensure that this matter is expedited; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10716/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that all the local authorities within the Dublin area with the exception of Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council have provided a list of sites for alternative parking for heavy goods vehicles which are acceptable to the gardaí. However, all the local authorities concerned must provide alternative parking sites.

The gardaí are examining the options open to them with a view to progressing the making of the temporary rules.
