Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Officers.

Mary Coughlan

Question:

198 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason he refuses to name the employment exchanges in County Donegal that he proposes to close; the basis on which he proposes to close down these offices; the job losses, if any, imminent due to such closures; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10965/96]

For the purposes of this reply it is assumed that the Deputy is referring to social welfare branch officers in County Donegal.

As stated on a number of occasions in the House in the recent past, no decision has yet been taken with regard to the future of the branch offices. Any such decision will be fully discussed with the branch managers under the terms of the conciliation and arbitration scheme which covers them.
