Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Irish Life Closed Fund.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

200 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the changes, if any, he has authorised in the closed fund operated by Irish Life; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10726/96]

My function is to ensure that insurance companies are solvent, in compliance with the European Communities (Life Assurance) Framework Regulations, 1994. Unless I have reason to believe that the solvency of a company is in any doubt, I have no role in relation to the operation of such companies or their funds.

I have no reason to believe that the solvency of Irish Life Assurance is in any doubt; thus Irish Life have neither sought nor have I approved any changes to their closed fund.
