Vol. 466 No. 1

Written Answers. - Services for Mental Handicapped.

Mary Wallace

Question:

90 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the number of persons with a mental handicap receiving services in County Meath; and the number of persons currently on waiting lists for services. [10995/96]

The provision of services to persons with a mental handicap in County Meath is a matter in the first instance for the North Eastern Health Board.

I understand from the board that 454 persons with a mental handicap are in receipt of day services and 14 persons with a mental handicap are in receipt of residential services in County Meath.

From the current information available to the board, 165 persons with a mental handicap will require day places and 14 persons will require residential services over the next five years.
