Vol. 466 No. 4

Written Answers. - Children with Special Needs.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

191 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the fact that her commitment in Parliamentary Question No. 141 of 30 April 1996, in relation to examining the details of eight children with special needs at a primary school (details supplied) in County Dublin, has not yet been fulfilled; her views on whether this is an acceptable delay for the children, their parents, the teachers concerned and the school administration; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11644/96]

I can confirm to the Deputy that a member of my Department's primary inspectorate has recently been in contact with the principal of this school to discuss the needs of the children in question. A report from the inspectorate has now been received in my Department and is currently being considered. I can assure the Deputy that the matters in question are receiving urgent consideration.
