Vol. 466 No. 6

Written Answers. - Refurbishment of Dublin Flats.

Tony Gregory

Question:

82 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for the Environment further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 121 of 14 May 1996, the plans, if any, his Department has to liaise with Dublin Corporation in view of reports that within the current allocation of funding for refurbishment, the corporation could commence work in 1996 at Mary Aikenhead Avenue. Dublin 8; and whether this scheme, which is next in order of priority, received sanction from his Department. [12029/96]

As outlined in the reply to Question No. 121 of 14 May 1996, the 13 estates to which Dublin Corporation gave their highest relative priority have been designated for funding under the remedial works scheme. Over £58 million has been allocated to the corporation to date in respect of these projects, including £7 million this year. It is understood from the corporation that their allocation this year will be fully utilised in respect of approved projects. Given the level of funding which will be required by Dublin Corporation and other local authorities throughout the country to complete approved projects, and the general level of demand for assistance under the scheme. It is not possible, at this stage, to designate further projects for funding.
