Vol. 466 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Southern Cross Route.

Alan Shatter

Question:

107 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for the Environment the reason construction of the Southern Cross Route has not commenced; the steps, if any, being taken to resolve the outstanding difficulties; and when it is projected that construction will commence, be completed and the road opened for use. [12263/96]

High Court proceedings challenging the 1991 motorway scheme have not yet been determined. Both my Department and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, who are now codefendants, are making every effort to have the outstanding issues resolved so that construction, which will be a matter for the National Roads Authority, can commence.
