251 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice if she will have arrangements made to expedite registration of lands in the Land Registry for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the delay is causing great hardship. [12466/96]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this registration refers to an application under section 49, that is acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged in the Land Registry on 16 December 1994 and 7 February 1996. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process.
I understand that queries were issued to the applicant's solicitor in March 1996 to which a reply is awaited. The matter cannot proceed until the queries issued have been satisfactorily discharged.
