Written Answers. - Garda Síochána Promotion System.
Promotion within the Garda Síochána is governed by the provisions of the Garda Síochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1987, as amended by the Garda Síochána (Promotion) (Amendment) Regulations, 1990 and 1993. These regulations were made by the Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 of the Police Forces (Amalgamation) Act, 1925, and with the approval of the Government. I have no plans to review these regulations.
