Vol. 467 No. 3

Written Answers. - Counselling Services.

Joe Walsh

Question:

101 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether he will provide funding to the Carers' Association of Ireland in respect of its counselling services. [13162/96]

My Department's eastern regional office has no record of an application from the Carers' Association for funding in respect of its counselling services. However, the provision of social services, such as counselling for carers, is outside the remit of the grant schemes operated by my Department and is the responsibility of the health services. The organisation concerned should apply to the community care office of the local health board for funding in respect of its counselling services.
