Vol. 467 No. 5

Written Answers. - Carrigallen (Leitrim) Vocational School.

John Ellis

Question:

84 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education if her Department will provide funding to County Leitrim vocational education committee to fully equip the science room at Carrigallen vocational school. [13730/96]

My Department approved an all-in grant contribution of £80,000 towards the cost of an extension at Carrigallen vocational school. The contribution included all building work, fitted furniture, equipment and professional fees. A condition of the grant sanction was that any costs arising from the project in excess of the £80,000 must be met in full by County Leitrim Vocational Education Committee.

The vocational education committee confirmed in writing that the arrangement proposed by the Department as outlined above was acceptable to them.

A total grant of £78,000 has been paid to date to the vocational education committee in respect of expenditure incurred and any costs in excess of £80,000 must be met in full by the vocational education committee.
