Vol. 467 No. 5

Written Answers. - Fair Trading Investigations.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

16 Mr. Eric Byrne asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the procedures, if any, there are for the results of investigations carried out by the United Kingdom Office of Fair Trading to be communicated to the appropriate authorities in this jurisdiction in view of the large number of businesses operating in the United Kingdom and Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.[13639/96]

There are no formal procedures in respect of the matter raised by the Deputy. However, I understand that the Competition Authority and the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs communicate with the UK Office of Fair Trading on an informal basis and have good working relationships in this regard.
