Written Answers. - Shannon Navigation Extension.
I have no proposals at present to extend the Shannon Navigation to Lough Rinn.
The allocation of £22.65 million for waterways projects in the period 1994-99 is already fully committed.
The national canals and waterways strategy recommended that the technical and economic feasibility of extending navigation to Lough Rinn be examined as a medium-term priority. This will be done when staff and other resources permit.
