Vol. 467 No. 6

Written Answers. - Live Cattle Transportation.

Pat the Cope Gallagher

Question:

46 Mr. Gallagher (Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to difficulties and additional costs being experienced by farmers whose live cattle are being transported from State to State; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that trucks carrying these animals may be sealed at the Border and inspected at the frontier post after transportation through Northern Ireland; if he will have arrangements made to have these vehicles sealed similar to the practice in place for the transportation of processed meats; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10763/96]

I am not aware of any general difficulties being experienced in this area. However, if the Deputy has any specific case or cases in mind, he should contact my Department.
