Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Survey Completion Funds.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

126 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht whether he intends to provide additional funds to the Royal Irish Academy to enable the completion of the survey of Clare Island, County Mayo. [14026/96]

The National Parks and Wildlife Service of my Department, in response to a request from the Royal Irish Academy for funding assistance for the new survey of Clare Island, County Mayo, allocated a sum of £5,000 per annum over four years commencing in 1994. The Royal Irish Academy has indicated that this level of funding would almost certainly ensure the completion of the survey.
