Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - Water Quality Modelling.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

166 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for the Environment whether a town which receives a hydrodynamic and water quality computer model to determine the impact on the receiving waters will receive a full treatment works; and if he will make a statement on the matter in view of the fact that a full treatment works implies a certain quality of outfall when it impacts on the receiving waters. [14342/96]

The purpose of a hydrometric survey and water quality modelling exercise is to assist in the determination of the level of treatment required at a particular location. Decisions on the nature of the treatment to be provided at such a location would take account of the survey and modelling results and of all other relevant factors.
