Vol. 467 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Amalgamation.

Liam Aylward

Question:

199 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, made in respect of the provision of a new community school at Ferrybank, County Waterford which involves the amalgamation of Slieverue Vocational School in County Kilkenny and the neighbouring Sacred Heart of Mary Secondary School, Waterford. [14066/96]

The present position is that the proposed location for the new community school has yet to be determined by my Department's post primary building unit who are currently considering all the building, educational and financial factors involved in identifying the most viable site for the new school.

As soon as a decision has been taken, the Department will be in contact with the County Kilkenny vocational education committee and the authorities of the Sacred Heart of Mary secondary school.
