Question:277 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice if kitchen facilities at Portlaoise Prison have been extended; the current stage of the works; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [14306/96]
Written Answers. - Portlaoise Prison Kitchen Facilities.
The position is that construction works to extend and upgrade the prison kitchen and associated services in Portlaoise prison commenced in July, 1995. The core kitchen element of these works was completed on 5 June, 1996, and the new kitchen became fully operational within days. Associated works in relation to the kitchen, including the provision of four modern food serveries, to meet current requirements in regard to food handling and distribution are continuing. The project is expected to be fully complete by October of this year.
