Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Centre Upgrade.

Helen Keogh

Question:

139 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health if he will give details of the plans for the upgrading of the sub-standard health centre at South Earl Street, Dublin 8; the cost of the renovations; the timescale for such works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15088/96]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the provision of health centres is a matter for the health boards in the first instance.

I understand that the Eastern Health Board is in the process of examining tenders for the refurbishment of the health centre in South Earl Street and my Department has allocated £60,000 to the board as a contribution towards the cost.

The board is in the process of acquiring alternative accommodation for the health centre functions in order to commence refurbishment of the centre. It is expected that refurbishment, which will take approximately 14 weeks, will commence as soon as a decision is made regarding alternative accommodation.
