Question:

310 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment the reason the funding made available to the National Building Agency permits it to provide central heating in local authority houses whereas the funding made available directly to local authorities does not allow for such a luxury; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14998/96]

Housing authorities were advised by my Department in February 1994 that full central heating should be provided in all new local authority housing whether provided directly or through the National Building Agency.

311 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for the Environment the average cost of a local authority house in Waterford city in each of the last five years that was built by the National Building Agency; the average cost of such a house that was built by any other agency/body; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [14999/96]

Comparable information on the average cost of the provision of local authority housing in Waterford city, through the services of the National Building Agency and by contract by Waterford Corporation, is only available in my Department for four years, as follows:
