Vol. 468 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Garda Station.

Tony Gregory

Question:

585 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if there are any community gardaí currently based in Ballyfermot Garda station, Dublin 10; if community gardaí could urgently be assigned to the Cherry Orchard Estate in Dublin 10 and attend monthly meetings of the Cherry Orchard Development Council as requested, particularly in view of the serious social problems in this area. [15269/96]

The allocation of Garda personnel is the responsibility of the Garda authorities. They have informed me that there are seven community gardaí at Ballyfermot Garda station and they are under the direction of an inspector and a sergeant. Three of these gardaí are assigned to the Cherry Orchard community and the Garda authorities have informed me that they have in the past attended meetings with the Cherry Orchard Development Council and they will continue to do so on request.
