Question:

434 Mr. H. Byrne asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the danger at Clonroche national school, County Wexford, where the manhole cover at the front of the school has been broken for three months; the reason no repair work has been carried out in spite of the problem being reported several times; when this problem will be resolved, the nature of the repairs; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16668/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 433 and 434 together.

My Department has no record of requests from Clonroche national school for assistance with the repair of a broken manhole cover or the provision of a stopcock for the water supply.

Both of these items are of a maintenance nature and are not matters for my Department. The school might wish to contact the local authority regarding the broken manhole cover.
