Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

510 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made on an application in the Land Registry by a person (details supplied) in County Galway. [16812/96]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for conversion of title which was lodged on 5 July 1996. It is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage.

It is the policy of the Land Registry to try, as far as possible, to expedite cases in which it can be established that special circumstances of urgency exist. Any such cases will be specially considered if details of the reasons for urgency are submitted to the Registrar of Titles.

Question:

511 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made on an application to the Land Registry by a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [16813/96]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this registration refers to an application under section 49, i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession, of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 7 August 1996. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage. However, I can confirm that the matter is being examined at present and that preliminary queries should issue to the lodging solicitor in the next few days.
