Vol. 469 No. 1

Written Answers. - EU Presidency.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

570 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the estimated total cost to his Department of all bulletins, pamphlets, newsletters, and circulars arising from Ireland's Presidency of the EU; and the estimated total additional cost to his Department of Ireland's Presidency, indicating the major items of expense. [16391/96]

It is not possible at this stage to give a fully accurate breakdown of expenditure arising from Ireland's Presidency of the EU. The total allocation to my Department for Presidency related activity is £710,000 of which £182,644 has been spent so far.

Major items of expense include the hosting of an informal meeting of Ministers for Labour Affairs, various conferences, and associated accommodation and travel costs. While there will be some expenditure on pamphlets and other printed material, the amount involved cannot yet be quantified.
