Question:

92 Mr. Callely asked the Taoiseach the projected number of visits which he will undertake between now and the end of December 1996, in the context of Ireland's Presidency of the EU, to EU member destinations, other European destinations, North American destinations, African destinations and other destinations; the total cost of such travel; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16635/96]

I will undertake the following trips in the context of the EU Presidency between now and the end of the year:

26 September-1st October

Late November & Early December

Tour of EU Capitals prior to Dublin European Council on 13-14 December.

14-16th November

World Food Summit Rome

2nd-3rd December

OSCE Summit — Lisbon

The estimated cost of these trips to my Department is as follows:

£

EU-Japan Summit

37,000

World Food Summit

5,000

OSCE Summit

5,000

Total

47,000

It is not possible at this stage to estimate costs in relation to the tour of EU capitals prior to the Dublin European Council.
