146 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Defence the current position regarding vacancies at officer and senior NCO level by unit, command, corps and formation, as at 30 August 1996, in the FCA and Slua Muirí; the dates on which such vacancies occurred; when the vacancies will be filled; the actions and procedures put in place to identify suitable personnel to fill such vacancies particularly in numbers 3 and 4 Companies Slua Muirí 8 Battalion and Southern Command FCA HQ, 15 Battalion and 18 Battalion in respect of those vacancies existing for a period of more than 12 months; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The detailed information sought by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. In view of the nature of the information sought in relation to units of both An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil and An Slua Muirí and in the light of the time and resources that would be expended in compiling such information, I intend to contact the Deputy with a view to ascertaining any specific queries he may have in relation to appointments in either the FCA or the Slua Muirí.
