Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 20 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ring — the reason for the removal of a school bus service from students attending Louisburgh secondary school, County Mayo; (2) Deputy Briscoe — the need to deal with the growing problem of knife attacks and to declare an amnesty to facilitate the surrender of knives to gardaí; (3) Deputy Quill — the exclusion of two schools (details supplied) in Cork city from the breaking the cycle scheme and the measures which the Minister for Education will take to rectify the situation; (4) Deputy Raphael Burke — the need for the Minister for Education to approve immediately funding to allow work to commence on the urgently required extension to Loreto secondary school, Balbriggan, County Dublin, in view of the fact that the school which was built to accommodate 500 pupils now has 929 pupils; (5) Deputy O'Donnel — the appointment of a retired judge to inquire into allegations that vulnerable youths were passed from State care into the control of a paedophile priest; (6) Deputy Ó Cuív — the policy of the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications on the social and economic importance of access for peripheral regions to efficient and competitive telecommunications services; (7) Deputy Dan Wallace — the exclusion of two schools in the Cork North-Central constituency from the initiative for breaking the cycle of educational disadvantage; (8) Deputy McDaid — the present position regarding the extension to Ramelton No. 2 national school at Ramelton, Letterkenny, County Donegal; (9) Deputy Andrews — the resignation of an Irish film productions services company (details supplied) from the provision of production services for the commercial which is being produced for the Tourism Brand Ireland project; the allegations that, despite trade union agreement, non-nationals are being employed with alleged cash payments being made by an English based company (details supplied) thus avoiding the payment of Irish tax; and the action which the Minister for Tourism and Trade will take to investigate these allegations and (10) Deputy Eoin Ryan — the damage caused to Dublin Bay by the recent oil spillage and the steps taken to bring those responsible to justice.

The matters raised by Deputies Raphael Burke, Briscoe, O'Donnell and Eoín Ryan have been selected for discussion.
