Dáil Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 2 Oct 1996

Vol. 469 No. 3

Order of Business (Resumed).

On a point of order, if my colleague, Deputy Cowen, was out of order, will the Taoiseach communicate with my office on whether he will allow a debate? It was ridiculous here last week with several Deputies, who had attended meetings in their constituencies at which hundreds of people were present, being given two minutes to express their views. We are not yet the size of the European Parliament.

The views were not worth listening to.

Is the Deputy against a debate on BSE? Will the Taoiseach consider allowing a day-long debate on the crisis in the beef industry?

There was not one decent suggestion.

Will the Taoiseach consider the matter over the next few days?
