Question:

180 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number of transport companies invited to tender for the provision of transport services during EU ministerial visits and meetings; the name of each company; whether bus, taxi, hackney or limousine service companies were employed to provide such services, which did not have to go through a tender procedure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Seventeen cars and two mini-buses were hired for the informal meeting of Trade Ministers held in Dublin Castle on 18-19 September 1996. Quotes-price lists were requested and received from four firms in relation to car requirements and from four firms in relation to bus requirements.
