Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

John Ellis

Question:

158 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will pay a maximum grant for the provision of milk tankers to all farmers under 40,000 gallons. [18164/96]

To make the best possible use of the limited funding available, the rate of aid payable under the dairy hygiene scheme was geared in favour of smaller scale producers i.e. a 60 per cent grant for those with milk quotas of below 15,000 gallons. This Scheme is now suspended because its total allocation from Structural Funds has been exhausted but in the event of its re-introduction I would not envisage any change in the principle of favouring smaller scale milk producers.
