Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - Halting Site Programme.

Ray Burke

Question:

102 Mr. R. Burke asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to a halting site programme recently approved by Fingal County Council and the views of many of the residents in the area as to the unsuitability of some of the sites chosen. [18981/96]

While I am aware that Fingal County Council adopted a programme for the accommodation of travellers last July, no specific proposal from the council in relation to this programme has been received in my Department. A decision on the location of a halting site for travellers, including consideration of the technical, planning and social aspects, is primarily a matter for the local authority concerned.
