Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

221 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Justice the cost of salaries and incidental expenses of all programme managers, special advisers and other non-established contract staff in her Department for each of the years from 1994 to date in 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [19166/96]

I understand the Deputy is referring to temporary unestablished staff employed in the Minister's Office and in the Offices of Ministers of State at my Department.

The salary costs incurred in respect of the persons concerned are as follows: 1994, £94,351.18*; 1995, £92,085.02; 1996, £89,231.41.

It is not possible to identify separately the amount of other associated costs, such as overheads, arising in relation to these staff.

*This is the figure for the whole of 1994. The figure from time of my appointment is £915.84 from 14 December. These figures include payment to Dáil secretaries who moved to my Department.
