Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Redundancy Payments.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

264 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the current position regarding the payment of statutory entitlements to former workers of Dundalk Textiles/Rossbeg Limited, County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19109/96]

Statutory amounts under the Redundancy Payments Acts have all been paid to former employees of the company in question. Also, the liquidator of the company has applied recently for funds under the insolvency payments scheme to pay a number of former employees their entitlements under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Acts, on the basis of awards made by the Employment Appeals Tribunal. The application is being processed and I expect to be in a position to make funds available to the liquidator within about a week for distribution to the employees concerned.
