Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

295 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he will have a second payment made in respect of the REP scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact that he is under financial pressure. [19309/96]

Under the REP scheme a compliance check is provided for before second year payment is made. This check is a detailed assessment of all aspects of the plan and includes an on-farm inspection. A compliance check has been carried out on the applicant in this case and the result will be available shortly. Assuming that all is in order, payment will issue as soon as possible thereafter.

Frank Crowley

Question:

296 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when the appeals unit will make a decision regarding a person (details supplied) in County Cork who applied for the 1995 suckler cow grant; and the reason for the delay in this case. [19314/96]

This case was concluded on 14 October 1996. The herdowner was notified in writing of the outcome of his appeal on that date. Several aspects of this case required detailed investigation before a decision could be made.
