Vol. 470 No. 4

Written Answers. - Ministerial Staff.

Ivor Callely

Question:

313 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the resources available to him and the Minister(s) of State at his Department for the running of ministerial offices and constituency offices in terms of support services, finance and personnel, established and non-established, programme managers and special advisers; if he will give a breakdown in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19132/96]

My ministerial offices avail of the support services of the Department of Defence in such areas as post, telephones, computers, etc. The Department of the Taoiseach provides these services in the case of the office of the Minister of State.

There are four contract staff and four Civil Service staff attached to my ministerial offices. The salary costs in respect of the four contract staff are shared jointly between the Departments of Defence and the Marine reflecting my dual role. The total salary cost involved is approximately £127,075 per annum. There are three Civil Service staff attached to the office of the Minister of State at a cost of approximately £56,256 per annum.
