Vol. 470 No. 5
29 Mr. Leonard asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of bacon pigs produced in each county for the last accounting period for which records are available. [18948/96]
Official CSO figures are not published for the number of bacon pigs produced in each county.
There are, however, official figures showing the number of pigs in various regions. The latest published CSO statistics in that regard relate to June 1995, and are set out in the tabular statement which I will circulate in the Official Report. The CSO has also published its August 1996 pig survey which gives the number of pigs in the country as 1,642,400. A breakdown of this figure is not given on a county basis.
