Question:70 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will provide an annual subvention to Educate Together to enable this organisation to provide an administration service to the schools under its umbrella. [19677/96]
Written Answers. - Educate Together Subvention.
Under a scheme which was established by my Department in 1993 the respective school management bodies are given annual grants to help them meet the cost of such items as mail issues, publications, and the organisation of seminars and meetings.
The amount of this grant is related to the number of schools represented by each management body. In 1993, 1994 and 1995 annual grant assistance of £1,000 was given to Educate Together. This amount was increased by 100 per cent in 1996, bringing the annual grant to £2,000.
The operation of this scheme is reviewed on an annual basis.
