Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cork School Refurbishment.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

165 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education when a school (details supplied) in County Cork will receive the necessary funds to carry out refurbishment works to the school; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that this school is a priority, was placed on the priority list in 1995 and that other schools who were on that list have already been refurbished; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20214/96]

A building project for the school to which the Deputy refers was included in my Department's capital programme. The inclusion of the project in the programme enabled the project to progress through the planning process to contract stage. The prioritisation of a project arises only after the contract documentation has been completed. My Department has invited tenders for the work. The deadline for receipt of replies is 7 November 1996. When the tenders have been evaluated and the lowest suitable tender selected my Department will notify the school authorities.
