Vol. 471 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sale of Hospital Sites.

Liz O'Donnell

Question:

95 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Health if his Department will be seeking to secure some of the proceeds from the sale of any of the sites of the Meath, Adelaide and National Children's hospitals after they move to Tallaght Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20633/96]

Limerick East): The Department's position has been that assets realised from any disposal of the hospital sites of the Meath, Adelaide and National Children's Hospitals should contribute to the overall development of services at Tallaght. At the same time the hospitals, as legal owners of the assets, have indicated their desire to retain control of these assets. However, it is now the Department's understanding that in the overall settlement to be negotiated with the transferring hospitals, the assets which the sites represent will not be lost to the health services. Details of this arrangement remain to be worked out between the Department and the parties concerned.
